The most recent source of shock for the online poker industry came from the news that Gabi Campos, the PokerStars CEO, has decided to resign. Campos originally gained experience as an online poker executive after spending three years with 888Poker. He joined up with PokerStars in October 2010, and his last day of work will be January 31st.

Officials of the PokerStars download released a statement regarding Campos in the middle of January. It stated that “Gabi Campos has decided to step down from his position as Chief Executive Officer, effective Feb. 1, 2012, to pursue other opportunities .” It also mentioned that a “search for Gabi’s replacement is under way.”

Now the question is whether or not the replacement CEO will be someone already working for PokerStars, or whether it will be someone else in the industry with experience at another site. Everyone with a vested interest in PokerStars will certainly keep their ears perked for some news.

Sure enough, he decided to try to play the most hands ever in an eight hour span while still earning profit.

He got to work on January eighth. He started with around forty tables of $50NL and tried to keep that up for the entire 8 hour span. He was down around $1.2k at one point, however, and was forced to add $5/$10 NL to get back in the black fast.

Amazingly, Lew did not take a single break the entire time. This included breaks for the washroom and for food! He must have been very hungry after he was finished.

When it got down to the 8th hour of his record setting attempt, Lew was barely up money at all. He must have been nervous since running bad at any moment would threaten to foil his entire effort.

In the end, though, Lew was able to succeed. He finished the session with just one table, and ended up in the green by $7.65. In eight hours he was able to play almost 23.5k hands, which is almost 3k hands/hour. This equated to an amazing 49 hands/minute! He received an astounding 22.7k FPPs.

Congratulations to Lew for setting a new world record! Al descargar PokerStars estaras formando parte de la mejor y mas exclusiva sala de poker del mundo.

If you have a small bankroll, you can satellite into this tourney for as low as $1. Deep stack pros will be happy to hear that the structure is very deep. This is great for highly skilled post flop players as it takes some of the luck out of the game.

Even if you are an online slot machines expert, you can still play poker on the side. Online poker is great because there’s always a game and you can play a larger variety of stakes than in brick-and-mortars.

This past month they gave out a myriad of poker bonuses and prizes, and they also hosted a couple record-breaking MTTs. Let’s take a look at these MTTs in a little more detail because the numbers are pretty impressive.

Because PokerStars wanted to break their own world record for the biggest tournament field ever, they decided to host a $1 with a $250k guarantee.
The Sunday Storm, which has an $11 buy-in and a $200k guarantee, is usually the biggest MTT field every week on Pokerstars. To celebrate its anniversary, PokerStars ran a special version of the tournament with a $1 million guarantee. This meant that first place was guaranteed a sum of $150k! To give you even more bang for your PokerStars rakeback buck, the site also put $100 bounties on its pros.

The prize pool for this special Sunday Storm ended up being over $1 million thanks to over 116k players participating. When it got down to 6-handed at the final table, they decided to make a deal with everyone receiving at least $55k. The winner of the deal took home a handsome $87k.

Last but not least, there was the gigantic Sunday Million. Another record was broken here, this time for the biggest prize pool in online poker history. Once again PokerStars broke their own record which was set back in 2010 during the WCOOP Main Event. They also broke their record for the largest Sunday Million ever. Back in March, 59k players registered for a special version of the Sunday Million, which was their old largest ever.

The 10th Anniversary edition of the Sunday Million saw an impressive 62k players register, which meant a massive prize pool of over $12.4 million. This was $200k more than the WCOOP Main Event prize pool back in 2010. Before a chop, 1st place was scheduled to receive $2 million.

There was no talk of a chop when the final table of this event initially formed, but they decided to go for it once it became 6-handed. It seems like a no-brainer considering there was an incredible $5 million left in the prize pool at this point.

The eventual winner of the 10th Anniversary Sunday Million was First-Eagle of Canada. He won over $1.1 million after the deal. Not bad for a day of work on one of the best Mac poker sites!

Nicholas Levi began the final table just shy of the chip lead. However he suffered a crippling blow after getting in the majority of his chips with bottom two pair against David Boyaciyan’s top set. No miracle came for Levi and Boyaciyan vaulted into the top of the chip counts.

Despite the cooler, Levi wasn’t the first out at the final table as tournament pro Mads Wissing finished in 8th place. This was followed by Andreas Wiese in 7th and Ari Engel in 6th place. Boyaciyan continued his upward trend as his AK suited held against Denys Drobyna’s A7 suited, taking the players to four handed play.

It was at this time that Martin Finger went on a roll. He was the first player over 10 million chips, and he added to his stack even more by knocking out two players in a row. First his KK held up against Guillem Usero’s A8. Then his AJ also held against Levi’s 86 to finish him off in third place.

Finger began heads-up play with a roughly two and a half to one chip lead over Boyaciyan. Boyaciyan and Finger battled for hours until the two clashed in a big coinflip situation. Finger held AK and was up against Boyaciyan’s TT. The KK6 flop put Finger ahead and that’s where he stayed, sending Boyaciyan out in 2nd place.

Congratulations to Martin Finger for winning EPT Prague!

1 – Martin Finger – €720,000
2 – David Boyaciyan – €535,000
3 – Nicolas Levi – €270,000
4 – Guillem Usero – €205,000
5 – Denys Drobyna – €160,000

A lot of the surprise stems from the fact that Adelson’s personal view is far removed from many others in the casino industry who believe that licensed and regulated online poker should be available in the United States. This is in addition to the fact that earlier in the year, Adelson was said to be in support of online poker at the federal level in an article in the New York Post.

Adelson’s complaints include that he doesn’t believe the technology that is available is good enough to prevent young people from playing the games on the Internet for real money.

It remains to be seen whether or not Adelson will actually do anything with his viewpoint. The Las Vegas Sands owns properties all over the world including Macau, Pennsylvania, Singapore, and of course Las Vegas. The Vegas locations include the Venetian Resort and Casino.

With the movement for online poker rooms recently stalling out, this has come as a small bit of bad news that could get much worse if Adelson and the Las Vegas Sands actually decide to lobby against online poker.

Since they can’t play on a William Hill Poker download, Americans are looking to casinos to fulfill their poker cravings. With two Day 1s, a grand total of 327 players participated at $1,600 a piece, with 181 of them surviving to Day 2. 11 of those players made it to Day 3 to play for the $111,812 grand prize. It took just 30 minutes of play for the remaining players to get down to the final 9, the final table.

Casey McCarrel started the final table in fourth position but doubled Chris Clark up soon after the final table began. Ten minutes later he was gone in 9th place after committing the last of his chips with an overcard and a flush draw against Ron Segni’s top pair.

Segni enjoyed the chip lead early on in the final table until his top two pair was bested by the full house of Daniel Lowery. Lowery followed that up by taking out the trips of Joe Fernandez with another full house which sent Fernandez to the rail in 7th place. That pot put Lowery in possession of about half the chips in play with 6 players left.

Lowery’s hot run continued all the way down to three handed play. Bryan Schultz managed to close some of the distance by winning a big pot off Lowery as well as by knocking Segni out in 3rd place. Perhaps Segni can use some of his winnings for video poker online.

Schultz and Lowery went with what some might see as an odd decision: they chose to skip three levels of the structure to speed the tournament up due to the fact heads-up play began very deep stacked. Not long afterward, Lowery and Schultz played a big preflop all-in pot with Schultz in big trouble with J9 of diamonds against Lowery’s AJ. However the board was kind to Schultz as he made a flush on the turn, which crippled Lowery. Lowery couldn’t come back and had to settle for 2nd place, making Schultz the WSOPC Harveys Lake Tahoe champion.

1 – Bryan Schultz – $111,812
2 – Daniel Lowery – $69,132
3 – Ron Segni – $50,210
4 – Hank Czarnecki – $37,087
5 – Jim Atwood – $27,843
6 – David Clark – $21,234
7 – Joe Fernandez – $16,448
8 – Chris Clark – $12,932
9 – Casey McCarrel – $10,320

This was back when they were one of the biggest US friendly poker sites around, so they had plenty of help from Americans. For their tenth anniversary, though, PokerStars has decided to break the record again, this time without the USA.

On December 4th, they will host a $1 tournament in hopes of attracting 150,000 people. To help attract even higher stakes players, they are offering a $250,000 guarantee and have capped the tourney at 200,000 players.
PokerStars lacks casino features like video poker, but they make up for it by offering the best value tournaments on the Internet today. For example, the Sunday Storm costs $11 to enter every week, but the prize pool is always at least $200,000. On December 11th, PokerStars is having a 10th Anniversary edition of the event: $1 million guaranteed prize pool with at least $150,000 going to the winner! They have also put bounties on their pros, which means that you will receive $100 for busting any of them.

The two above tournaments sound great, but the best is yet to come. On December 18th, the Sunday Million’s prize pool will be increased to a guaranteed $10 million, with a minimum of $2 million going to 1st place! It isn’t every day you can turn $215 into $2 million.

These gigantic promotions are sure to attract new players. If you are one of these players, be sure to use a PokerStars bonus code. This will get you a first deposit bonus that, when cleared, will really help your bottom line.

Last week I posted a summary of the WSOP Main Event final table. The WSOP Main Event is the most prestigious event of all the casinos for USA players, and just three players made Day 2 of the final table. Pius Heinz was the chip leader with 90 big blinds, and then Ben Lamb and Martin Staszko were quite far behind with 45 and 35 big blinds respectively.

It became clear that no one was intending on sitting around as the very first hand produced one of the biggest pots of the tournament. After a series of raises, Lamb and Staszko got their stacks in with KJ and 77 respectively. Staszko won the flip, which crippled Lamb. Lamb never recovered and the WSOP Player of the Year for 2011 was soon out in 3rd place.

Stacks were deep, but no one would have guessed that the two remaining players were about to play an incredible 120 hands over 6 hours. Staszko started with a small chip lead when heads-up play began, but this was quickly taken away from him by Heinz a few hands in.

Heinz was able to keep this chip lead for around 30 hands, but then Staszko ran an amazing bluff that allowed him to have the chip lead for 30 hands himself. Heinz was aggressive and regained the chip lead, but he lost it again a mere 15 hands later. So much back and forth – probably more than you’ll ever see on a Bodog Poker download.

Staszko didn’t give this chip lead up easily. In fact, he whittled Heinz all the way down to just 25bb with some very well timed plays. While Heinz got a little discouraged, he didn’t let Staszko deal the killing blow. He did what he had to do: survive long enough to see the biggest hand of the night.

The two players saw a flop of KT7cc and got their chips in the middle, Heinz all-in for the rest of this chips. Heinz was slightly ahead with AQhh, but Staszko had an incredible number of outs with his Q9cc. Staszko could not find one of his outs, however, which gave Heinz a big chip lead.

Finally this was a chip lead that Heinz would not relinquish. Eight hands later, he called Staszko’s push with AK and was ahead of T7 suited. AK held which meant that Heinz was the first German winner of the WSOP Main Event ever!

Descargar Everest Poker es muy sencillo y tendrás acceso a uno de los sitios mas grandes de poker.

That’s all changed this week, with a hearing having been held to discuss the issue. November 17th played host to a discussion on the ‘Future of Internet Gaming: What’s at Stake for Tribes?’. As you might have guess from the title, it concerned the impact of online gambling on various Indian Tribes. It was designed to consider not only poker, but games like real money slots.

It’s almost traditional in the U.S. for Indians to run casinos and many are understandably concerned about the impact of online gambling on their lifestyles. The hearing was called to consider how the influx of offshore providers like the titan poker download and the recent DoJ action impacts on the livelihoods of the Tribes. The speakers and discussions are expected to continue today.

Invited to speak at the event was Poker Players Alliance Chairman, Alfonse D’Amato. It will have been a familiar trip for the political veteran, thanks to his years serving a Senator. He testified as an expert witness. PPA Executive Director, John Pappas, commented that, “even though the subject matter may be limited to how this impacts Indian tribes, the PPA being able to testify will insert the positive reasons for consumers into the discussion.”

D’Amato has visited the other side of the legislative coin in the past few weeks. An earlier hearing, entitled ‘Internet Gaming: is there a Safe Bet?’, also featured FairPlayUSA Chairwoman, Parry Aftab and National Indian Gaming Association Chairman, Ernest Stevens. Proceedings took place in the House Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade, which means that both houses on Capitol Hill have considered online poker in recent times.

“It’s encouraging that the House subcommittee is acting so quickly,” said John Pappas. “They could have punted to after Thanksgiving, but they chose to tackle it before the break.”

Fans of the game will be buoyed by all the action in Washington and will be hoping that, this time, it leads to tangible results. Meanwhile, online video poker fans will also be hoping that any legislation that passes does not exclude non-poker games.
